No events foundThe Sustainable Hillsborough Steering Committee was created in 2009 to guide Hillsborough Township towards creating a sustainable community through Municipal operations, policies, and programs. Sustainable Hillsborough develops recommendations to keep the Township moving towards achieving its sustainability goals, educates Hillsborough residents about sustainable living, and advises Township officials and staff on the development of sustainability efforts.
Sustainable Hillsborough also participates in the Sustainable Jersey program, which certifies participating municipalities at different levels for completing sustainability related "actions", since its inception in 2009. Hillsborough has been certified at the highest level of Silver for 10 years straight, and in 2024, earned the Large Group Champion Award and the Gold Star in Health. Arts in the Parks
The Sustainable Hillsborough Steering Committee created Arts in the Parks program with the help of a T-Mobile Hometown Grant in 2023. The goal of the program is to bring creativity and color to Hillsborough's parks in unexpected ways. The first project involved painting the sidewalks at Ann Van Middlesworth Park. You can view some of the photos below or drop by the park to enjoy the art!

Hillsborough Township Now has Our Very Own Electric Vehicle Charger!
On August 3rd, 2022, Hillsborough Township Mayor Shawn Lipani cut the ribbon on a new electric vehicle (EV) charging station. Located at the Municipal Complex, the charging station was installed thanks to the “It Pay$ to Plug In Electric Vehicle Charging Grants Program” grant that was awarded to the township in the amount of $8,000. The two port Level 2 EV charging station by ChargePoint is located at the front (main) parking lot at the Municipal Complex that is marked exclusively for that purpose.
The rate for charging electric vehicles at the Municipal Building is $1.50 per hour for the first three hours with no fee for parking. After 3 hours, the charge will be $1.50 per hour for charging and a $5 fee for parking.
Looking for a charger for your electric vehicle?
The U.S. Department of Energy maintains an interactive map of charger stations across the state and the country!
