Planning & Zoning Department Information

The mission of the Department of Planning & Zoning is to plan for a healthy, vibrant community with a sustainable balance of growth and development; to prepare, maintain and administer supporting plans and regulations; and to engage and educate the public in the planning process.  

The Planning & Zoning Department is responsible for the community’s long-range planning efforts, including keeping the master plan current and conducting various studies to address emerging issues within the Township. The Department also manages the Land Use and Development Ordinance (aka the “Zoning Ordinance”,  see link below) by processing zoning permits and reviewing applications for development.

The department manages and enforces the Land Use and Development Ordinance, which establishes a pattern for the use of land to guide the appropriate development that promotes the public health, safety, and welfare of the people.
