Hillsborough Announces Memorial Day Events

Salute to Military Service Breakfast, parade, and Garden of Honor Ceremony to take place on Saturday, May 23rd

HILLSBOROUGH, N.J. — Every May, the Hillsborough community comes together to honor the service and sacrifice of Hillsborough veterans and Active Duty personnel during the Annual Salute to Military Service Breakfast, Memorial Day Parade, and Garden of Honor Commemoration Program. 

“It’s our honor to invite all of Hillsborough’s military to participate in the Salute to Military Service Breakfast, followed by the parade and Garden of Honor ceremony,” announced Mayor Catherine Payne at the April 28th Township Committee meeting. “We also hope for plenty of participation from community groups, businesses, and local organizations in the annual Memorial Day Parade!”

The breakfast, a rain or shine event, begins at 7:30 am with the parade following at 10:00 am. As is the tradition, the Garden of Honor ceremony will immediately follow the parade.

Participating organizations are invited to show a festive display of national pride with floats, historic, or red, white, and blue dress, and other tributes to our heritage in honor of America’s 250th anniversary. Boy Scout Troop 1776 will set the example by marching in their authentic Revolutionary War uniforms.

Army Veteran and Hillsborough Township Police Corporal Frank Polizzi will lead Hillsborough’s 2025 Memorial Day Commemoration Ceremony as the Parade's Grand Marshal.

“Each year in Hillsborough Township, we honor the service of our military members on the Saturday of Memorial Day weekend.  The Salute to Military Service Breakfast, parade & Garden of Honor ceremony are meant to provide an opportunity to remember and express our deepest gratitude to those who have defended our freedoms,” stated Director of Parks and Recreation, Griffin Dunne.
