Hillsborough Township to Launch Comprehensive Survey to Enhance Senior Programming and Communication

HILLSBOROUGH, NJ –Hillsborough Township is launching a comprehensive Senior Programming and Communications Survey to better understand the distinct needs and interests of its senior population. The initiative, hosted through the Engage Hillsborough/Public Input platform, aims to gather direct feedback to shape the future of township services and ensure that all local seniors are actively supported.

The survey asks residents for feedback on existing senior programs to evaluate their current effectiveness and measure community interest. Beyond reviewing current offerings, the questionnaire polls seniors on their specific recreational interests, resource needs, and basic demographic information. A primary focus of the survey centers on communication, exploring how seniors currently receive news from the township and identifying their preferred methods for staying informed.

Township leadership emphasizes that expanding the reach of these programs requires hearing from as many residents as possible.

"Our goal is to make sure every senior in Hillsborough feels connected and valued," said Mayor Catherine Payne. "This survey is a vital step in expanding our outreach efforts so we can reach all of our older residents, listen to their ideas, and bring new faces into our community programs."

Ensuring these services remain accessible to all residents is a core priority for the township governing body.

"We want to guarantee that there are robust, engaging activities in place for all of our seniors," said Social Services Liaison and Committeeman Robert Britting Jr. "Importantly, we are committed to providing these high-quality programs at no cost to our taxpayers, ensuring we support our residents while remaining fiscally responsible."

Equally important to the success of these programs is ensuring that the information actually reaches the community.

"A program can only be successful if people actually know it exists," said Township Clerk and Public Information Officer Sarah Brake. "It is incredibly important that all seniors are informed about what is happening in their town, and this survey will help us understand how to best deliver that information directly to them."

The Senior Programming and Communications Survey will be available in early July. Seniors can look for information regarding the survey through the Township social media, on the Township website, the Mayor’s eNews, in the Social Services office, and announcements made at senior chapter meetings.
