Hillsborough Township Partners with Brightspeed for Annual Scarecrow Festival Family Fun Awards Event

HILLSBOROUGH TOWNSHIP, NJ —Hillsborough Township is pleased to announce its partnership with Brightspeed, a telecommunications provider, for this year’s Scarecrow Festival Family Fun Awards Ceremony. Throughout October, residents and visitors are invited to view the creative scarecrow displays along the front of the Municipal Complex and cast their votes online using the QR codes posted throughout the display area.

To cap off the month-long celebration, Hillsborough Township will host the Scarecrow Festival Family Fun Awards Ceremony on Monday, October 26, 2026. The free community event will take place from 4:30 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at the Hillsborough Municipal Complex, located at 379 South Branch Road.

The family-friendly evening will feature entertainment for all ages, including face painting, temporary tattoos, balloon animals, light seasonal refreshments, activities, and giveaways. Brightspeed is generously sponsoring a live DJ and photo booth for attendees to enjoy throughout the evening.

"The Scarecrow Festival is one of our favorite autumn traditions, bringing out the incredible creativity and community spirit of Hillsborough residents and organizations," said Mayor Catherine Payne. "We are thrilled to partner with Brightspeed this year to offer our families a wonderful evening of entertainment as we celebrate the hard work and imagination that went into each of these displays."

Beginning at 5:30 p.m., Mayor Payne and members of the Township Committee will officially announce the contest winners and present the awards.

"Brightspeed is proud to support Hillsborough's Scarecrow Festival Family Fun Awards Ceremony and the traditions that bring families and neighbors together. We're pleased to serve this community and to play a small part in supporting the experiences and connections that make Hillsborough a great place to call home,” said Jeanne Shearer, government affairs & community relations manager, Brightspeed

All community members are encouraged to visit the displays, vote for their favorites throughout October, and join the township for the awards celebration on October 26.
